The script was brilliant, Heath Ledger's performance was well worth the Oscar he received. Even the intriguing, yet simplistic first scene sets the tone for the entire film. It says something about a film when every other film in its sub-genre tries to emulate it in some shape or form. This really kicked off the style that Marvel is going with now in that the films are first and foremost genre films but with superheroes added to them this being a crime thriller w superheroes.
